About

A Phoenician coastal settlement on the sa Mola de sa Caleta headland in Sant Josep, founded in the late 8th century BCE and peacefully abandoned around 590 BCE when its inhabitants moved to the bay of Ibiza. The excavated remains show tightly packed houses, narrow lanes, small squares, a communal bread oven and metallurgical furnaces. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
