Late October is when Ibiza exhales. The beach clubs have closed their doors, the ferries run on winter timetables, and what remains is the island locals have always loved: village squares, long lunches, live music in small bars and a calendar that is surprisingly generous when it comes to free things to do in Ibiza. If you are on the island between 27 October and 2 November 2026, you can fill almost every day without paying for a ticket.
Here is our pick of what is happening this week, from free cinema and street-side concerts to a squid festival, three different markets and a 15 km coastal walk.
Free culture: cinema, art and a horror festival
The headline free event of the week is the Ibiza Halloween Festival, now in its third edition. It opens on Thursday 29 October at 18:30 at the Teatre Can Ventosa in Ibiza Town with the first official-selection short film session, and carries on through the weekend with horror and fantasy cinema, workshops and street performances around Can Ventosa and Vara de Rey. Entry to the screenings is free. On Friday the programme turns to slasher comedy, animation and psychological horror, and on Halloween night itself (Saturday 31 October, 18:30) the session is devoted to Balearic short films.
If horror is not your thing, Friday has alternatives. Cineforum Eivissa screens Gattaca in its original version with Spanish subtitles at 18:30, with a short film beforehand and a free discussion afterwards. Later that evening, the Divendres de Cine cycle puts on a special All Saints double bill at 21:30: Weapons at the Can Jeroni cultural centre in Sant Josep and The Monkey at the Auditori Caló de s'Oli in Cala de Bou. Both are free.
For something calmer, two big art exhibitions are still open until Sunday 1 November at no cost: the Hans Grass retrospective I al mar, els somnis at the Museu Puget in Dalt Vila, and Stefan Brüggemann's Cel d'Or at the MACE contemporary art museum. Both are a lovely excuse to wander the old town on a cool, quiet morning.
Free live music, night by night
Autumn is the season of the small stage, and Ibiza's bars and restaurants are still putting on concerts. A few to know about:
- Thursday 29 October: LaCalle bring their easy-going rock to the terrace at Can Jordi Blues Station (19:00). The same evening, Los del Varadero play rumba and pop at Tribu near es Pouet (20:00), and The Rosemary Family bring soul, pop and rock to Cas Costas in Sant Jordi (20:00).
- Thursday 29 October, record lovers: Ibiza Vinyl Club takes over Las Dalias Cafe at 19:00, with DJs playing straight from their own collections. You can even bring your own records and join the booth.
- Friday 30 October: jazz singer and pianist Abby Pianoman performs at the Clab restaurant in Cala de Bou (20:30), and Music 4 Life play soul, rock and pop covers at the Coral Star Apartments (21:00).
- Saturday 31 October: Can Jordi Blues Station closes its October programme at 13:00 with Little Green Hipo, the island's youngest band, and Raco Verd in Sant Josep ends its concert season with a party featuring Melomaniacs, also at 13:00.
And every evening, the sunset sessions at Café del Mar in Sant Antoni are free to enter, with resident DJs from 17:00. In late October the sun drops behind the bay around 18:00, which makes it one of the best free seats on the island.
Markets and the Squid Fair
Saturday 31 October is a food-and-market day, and a good one. Start early at the Mercadillo de Sant Jordi (from 08:00, on the old hippodrome grounds) for second-hand finds, antiques and vintage clothes. The Mercado de Forada in Sant Antoni sells local produce, cheese, sobrasada and crafts from 10:00 to 16:00, and the Las Dalias hippy market in Sant Carles is open from 10:00 to 19:00 with more than 200 stalls, live music and food. If you prefer midweek, the Punta Arabí hippy market in Es Canar runs on Wednesdays, and the Mercat de Sa Cooperativa in Santa Eulària sells zero-kilometre, organic produce on Fridays from 09:00.
Then there is the star of the weekend: the 10th Fira Gastronòmica des Calamar in Sant Carles de Peralta. Local restaurants and producers serve squid dishes and tapas in the village from 11:00, and entry is free, so you only pay for what you eat. Combine it with the Las Dalias market, a few minutes away, and you have a full Saturday sorted.
Get outdoors: a coastal walk and a night under the stars
Walkers should look at the Ruta Sant Carles guided walk on Saturday 31 October at 10:00. It is a demanding route of roughly 15 km along some of the most distinctive stretches of the Santa Eulària des Riu coastline, starting and finishing in Sant Carles de Peralta, organised by the town council and free to join. Bring water, proper shoes and a light layer.
If you would rather look up than around, the Consell d'Eivissa and the Agrupación Astronómica de Ibiza are running their Noche de estrellas sky observations from Cala d'Hort this season. Dates and times can change with the weather, so check the Consell's channels before you go. Cala d'Hort faces Es Vedrà, and on a clear autumn night the view is hard to beat.
Family plans for Halloween weekend
Travelling with children? On Saturday morning the TinyRavers x Parco: Trick or Beat Halloween rave at Parco in Sant Antoni (11:00) is a free family party with music and costumes. In the evening, Coco. El musical. Recuérdame is staged at the Recinte Firal in Ibiza Town at 18:00, also free. For a rainy day, BIBO Park near Sant Rafel, the island's botanical and biotechnology garden, is an interactive indoor-outdoor visit from around €10.
Practical tips for a free week in Ibiza
- Check times the day before. Small venues change their programme at short notice at the end of the season.
- Arrive early for free events. Seats at screenings and concerts fill up first.
- Rent a car or plan your buses. Winter timetables are thinner, especially in the evening.
- Bring a layer. Evenings are cool once the sun goes down, even when the day is warm.
- Remember the clocks. Spain moved to winter time on 25 October, so sunset is earlier than visitors expect.
For the full day-by-day listing, browse the Ibiza Calendar events page and filter by date or by free entry. Whatever you pick, the quiet season is the island at its most authentic, and this week proves you do not need a big budget to enjoy it.
